Ichikishiki Pottery

…It was discovered in 1921, and in 1961, full-scale excavation was carried out by Kawaguchi Sadanori. The slope and the lower flat surface were surveyed, and it was found that a shell layer containing Izumi-style and Ibusuki-style pottery was formed first on the west side, and that a shell layer from the Ichiki-style pottery period was formed on the eastern slope and flat surface, overlapping in part. The shell mound is rich in inland bay shellfish such as oysters and clams, as well as small reef-dwelling snail shells, and large fish such as bonito, tuna, and sharks have been caught there. …
