Ichigaya

...The name of a place in the eastern part of Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. It is also written as Ichigaya. It is within the former Ushigome Ward, and in the early modern period, there were many feudal lords' and samurai residences and temples. After the Meiji period, the site of the Owari clan's upper residence was the site of the Army Academy, the Imperial Headquarters Army Department, the Army Ministry, and the General Staff Headquarters. After World War II, it was the site of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, and is currently the Ground Self-Defense Force Ichigaya Garrison, occupying the area around Ichigaya Honmura-cho.
