Yasukatsu Itami

A chief accountant in the early Edo period. He was called Kinosuke. From 1586 (Tensho 14), he served Tokugawa Hidetada as head of the storehouse. He was in charge of accounting, and during the Siege of Osaka, he was in charge of transporting military supplies for the various armies. In February 1624 (Kan'ei 1), he was attached to Iemitsu and appointed as the governor of Harima. In the following year, his stipend was increased to 9,000 koku. On February 3, 1625, he was entrusted with Kofu Castle and was given an additional 3,000 koku. As chief accountant, he was in charge of the finances and accounting of the shogunate, was entrusted with the Sado gold mines, and handled lawsuits by the Kanto and provincial magistrates. He also received castles from feudal lords who had been demoted on multiple occasions. At one point, Iemitsu ordered him to be confined to his home for improper allocation of fiefs and for lending money to merchants. 江戸初期の勘定頭。喜之助と称す。天正14(1586)年より徳川秀忠に近侍し,納戸頭。会計を担当し,大坂の陣には諸軍の兵糧運送を担当。寛永1(1624)年2月,家光に付属され,播磨守に叙任。同5年加増され9000石。同10年2月3日甲府城を預けられ,3000石加増。勘定頭として幕府財政,会計を担当し,佐渡金山を預けられ,関東および諸国代官らの訴訟も処理した。また,改易大名の城受取などを何度も務めた。一時,知行割り付けの不備や商人への貸し金のことで家光から閉門に処せられている。妻は興津内記の娘。<参考文献>藤井譲治『江戸幕府老中制形成過程の研究』
