This was once a facility for wounded soldiers in Paris, France. It was completed in 1674 by Louis XIV, and the Dome Church was built in 1706 to house the body of Louis IX. In 1861, the body of Napoleon I was placed in the basement of the church, and it is now known as his tomb. Even now, military facilities are housed here, and one corner of the building also houses a military museum. Just to the north, in a corner facing the Seine, is the Place des Invalides, and directly below is the Invalides station of the metro and the RER.
