Sokokura [Hot Spring] - Sokokura

Japanese: 底倉[温泉] - そこくら

This hot spring is located in Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, western Kanagawa Prefecture. The spring quality is saline, with a temperature of 62-97°C. It is counted as one of the "Seven Hot Springs of Hakone." It is located at the confluence of the Hayakawa River and its tributary, the Jyakotsu River, and adjacent to Miyanoshita Onsen. It is said that the name Jyakotsu River comes from the fact that leaves fall onto the layer of sinter precipitate in the hot spring, creating a snake-bone pattern; nearby is Jakotsuno, where this layer is also found. 神奈川県西部，足柄下郡箱根町にある温泉。泉質は食塩泉，泉温62～97℃。〈箱根七湯〉の一つに数えられる。早川とその支流蛇骨（じやこつ）川の合流部にあり，宮ノ下温泉に隣接する。蛇骨川の名は，温泉中の珪華（けいか）の沈殿層に木の葉が落ち，蛇骨状の模様を示すことにあるといい，近くにこの層のある蛇骨野がある。東海道本線小田原駅からバスの便がある。【谷沢明】
