On the other hand, in still life painting, Paolo Porpora (c. 1617-73) was strongly influenced by Caravaggio and Dutch painting, Luca Forte (date of birth and death unknown), Giovanni Battista Ruòppolo brothers (1629-93), and Giuseppe R. (date of birth and death unknown) specialized in flowers and fruit, and Giuseppe Recco (1634-95) preferred fish. His still-life paintings, with their excellent color and texture, were the forerunners of the French painter Chardin.
