A typhoon that brought heavy rain to the western and northern mountainous areas of the Kanto region on September 14-15, 1947, causing unprecedented flood damage in Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture. 1,077 people died, 853 were missing, 9,298 houses were damaged, and 384,743 houses were flooded. The center of the typhoon brushed the tip of the Boso Peninsula on the 15th and moved off the coast of Sanriku on the 16th. The typhoon was weakened when it approached Japan, and damage from strong winds was minimal, but the front that had been stagnant near Japan became active, causing heavy rain, with total rainfall reaching 700 mm in Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, and 611 mm in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. As a result, the flood damage spread throughout the Kanto region, and the Tone River levee broke in Kurihashi Town, Saitama Prefecture, and the muddy waters flowed south along the Edo River, flooding the area between the Edo River and the Arakawa Floodway. The waters subsided completely by mid-October. A mountain tsunami occurred on Mount Akagi in Gunma Prefecture, the Kitakami River flooded in the Tohoku region, and Ichinoseki City in Iwate Prefecture and other areas suffered major damage.

1947年9月14～15日に関東地方西部，北部山岳地帯に豪雨を降らせ，東京都，埼玉県に未曾有の大水害を発生させた台風。死者 1077人，行方不明者 853人，住宅損壊 9298棟，浸水 38万4743戸。台風の中心は 15日房総半島先端をかすめて 16日には三陸沖へ進んだ。台風は日本に接近したときには衰弱しており，強風による被害は少なかったが，日本付近に停滞していた前線の活動を活発化させて豪雨を降らせ，神奈川県箱根町では総雨量 700mm，埼玉県秩父市では 611mmに達した。このため水害は関東地方一円に及び，利根川は埼玉県栗橋町で堤防が決壊，濁流は江戸川に沿って南下，江戸川と荒川放水路に挟まれた一帯に氾濫した。水が完全に引いたのは 10月中旬であった。群馬県赤城山では山津波が起こリ，東北地方では北上川が氾濫し，岩手県一関市などで大きな被害が発生した。
