Ishizuchi Prefecture

…After the Meiji Restoration and the return of the domains and people to the Emperor, the various domains reformed their domain systems, and the Matsuyama Domain established officials below the Grand Councilor, and organizations such as the Domain Administration Bureau, Accounting Bureau, and Civil Affairs Bureau in the domain office. After the abolition of the domains and establishment of prefectures in 1871, the four prefectures of Matsuyama, Imabari, Komatsu, and Saijo became Matsuyama Prefecture in November, and the four prefectures of Uwajima, Yoshida, Ozu, and Shintani became Uwajima Prefecture. In February of the following year, Matsuyama Prefecture was renamed Ishizuchi Prefecture, and in June, Uwajima Prefecture was renamed Kamiyama Prefecture, and in February 1873, the two prefectures became Ehime Prefecture. [History]
Ehime Prefecture was formerly comprised of the single province of Iyo, and in the early modern period it was divided into eight domains - Uwajima, Yoshida, Ozu, Niiya, Matsuyama, Imabari, Saijo, and Komatsu - as well as the Tenryo (the Matsuyama Domain's office).
