Sanbu Kanasho - Sanbu Kanasho

Written by Shoken (Koua). Collectively consisting of three parts, "Kimyo Hongansho," "Saiyo Sho," and "Father and Son Welcome," it was completed around 1321 (Genko 1). It is a book that explains the spirit of Honen's Pure Land Buddhism in elegant Japanese prose. "Kimyo Hongansho" is a record of the dialogue between an ascetic and an old monk that he heard in a dream state while staying in seclusion at Shinnyodo Temple, and explains the original vow of Amida Buddha and the power of the original vow to attain salvation, and preaches the way for evil people to attain salvation. "Saiyo Sho" describes the nature of faith and nembutsu in the form of dialogue between an old monk and men and women of all ages and backgrounds that he witnessed while staying in seclusion at Seiryoji Temple. "Welcoming Father and Son" compares all living beings welcomed by the Buddha, the loving Father, to children, and preaches about the cruelty of this world and the desirability of the Pure Land.

証賢（向阿(こうあ)）の著作。『帰命(きみょう)本願鈔』『西要(さいよう)鈔』『父子相迎(そうごう)』の3部の総称で、1321年（元亨1）ごろに成立。法然(ほうねん)の浄土教の旨趣を流麗な和文で説いた書。『帰命本願鈔』は、真如堂(しんにょどう)参籠(さんろう)のおり、夢うつつに聞いた修行者と老僧の問答を記す形をとって、阿弥陀仏(あみだぶつ)の本願と本願力による往生を明らかにし、悪人往生の道を説く。『西要鈔』は、清凉寺(せいりょうじ)参籠中に見聞した老僧と老少男女との問答の形をかりて、信心と念仏のあり方を述べる。『父子相迎』は、慈父である仏に迎えとられた衆生を子に例え、この世のいとわしさと浄土の願わしいさまを説く。
