Stone pavement (glacier) - Ishidatami

...Thawing and mixing processes are collectively referred to as frozen soil phenomena. Cobblestones, where a thin layer of structured soil and rock debris covers flat areas, and hemispherical mounds of soil called frozen craters, covered with grass and dwarf shrubs and measuring about one meter in diameter and several tens of centimeters in height, are the result of similar processes occurring in different areas of the ground surface. On slopes, solifluction lobes, which are tongue-shaped projections of solifluction with slight undulations several tens of centimeters in height, and stratified slope deposits, which consist of alternating layers of fine-grained material less than a few millimeters in size and rock fragments several centimeters in size, are distributed.
