Born October 5, 1878. Father of Ishikawa Tachiomaru. Became an assistant professor at Kyoto Imperial University, studied in Europe, and became a professor in 1912. His research focused on neurophysiology, but also included experimental physiology and animal physiology. In 1914, he founded the Otsu Lakeside Laboratory (now the Ecological Research Center).
