〘Noun〙 (Abbreviation of " Saneikoushi" ) A title indicating a monk's academic rank, one of the three courtly ranks. It refers to a monk who served as a lecturer in the three assemblies of Gosai-e at the Imperial Court, Saisho-e at Yakushi-ji Temple, and Vimalaki-e at Kofuku-ji Temple. Later, in the Tendai sect, it also referred to a person who served as a lecturer in the three Tendai assemblies. In the Hosso sect, Jodo sect, etc., it is still regarded as one of the academic ranks today. *Mahayana Shochinron Tenryaku 9th year point (955) shikigo "Tenryaku 9th year March 4th, lecturer at Nenbutsu-in lecture, Kanri koushi"

〘名〙 (「三会已講師(さんえいこうし)」の略) 僧の学階を表わす称号で、有職三綱の一つ。宮中の御斎会、薬師寺の最勝会、興福寺の維摩会の三会の講師を勤めあげた僧をいう。のちに、天台宗では天台三会の講師を勤めた者をもいう。法相宗、浄土宗などでは今日も学階の一つとして行なわれている。※大乗掌珍論天暦九年点（955）識語「天暦九年三月四日念仏院講論講師観理已講」
