Born in 1777. A dyed fabric overglaze artist in Koishikawa, Edo. In 1812, he was inspired by a magic lantern he saw in Ueno, and with the help of doctor Takahashi Genyo, he came up with a technique for creating a moving image. He became a disciple of the first Sanshotei Karaku, and in 1813, he performed at a comedy hall in Kagurazaka. He passed away on December 27, 1852, at the age of 73.
