Born May 15, 1892. Discovered by Onoe Matsunosuke, he went from being a traveling actor to a film actor, taking the name Onoe Matsusaburo. In 1921, he directed "The Ferryman and the Samurai," the first Nikkatsu film to feature an actress instead of a female role. He passed away on September 24, 1968, at the age of 76.
