Born on April 14, 1876. Studied at the Toyo Eigakujuku School, then moved to Tokyo to study under Iwaya Sazanami. In 1899, he was recognized for his work "Uchiwa Taiko" (Fan Drum), and became the editor of the magazine "Katsubundan." In 1902, his work "Oranda Sara" (Dutch Plate) gained a good reputation. He later turned to playwriting. Died on December 31, 1945, at the age of 70. Born in Kyoto. His real name was Eigoro. His other name was Aoi.
