Python molurus; Indian python

Python molurus; Indian python
It is a member of the order Lacertidae, family Pythonidae. It is said to reach a body length of 6m, but few exceed 4m. However, it is thicker than the reticulated python, so it appears larger in proportion to its length. Its body is yellowish brown or gray brown, with angular dark brown spots lined up along the midline, and the same color spots lined up on the sides of its body. It is widely distributed from India and Sri Lanka through Southeast Asia to southern China, where it mainly lives in forests and is good at climbing trees. It also often goes underwater and can remain submerged for long periods of time. The number of eggs laid varies greatly, but can exceed 100 in one litter, and the mother snake protects the eggs by coiling her body around them until they hatch.
