...Recent grinding processes have focused on developing technology that further improves processing efficiency while maintaining the high processing accuracy that is characteristic of grinding, and advances in grinding machines and grinding fluids have made it possible to achieve a mirror finish with a surface roughness (maximum height) of 0.02 μm, roundness of 0.4 μm, and cylindricity of 1 μm/500 mm.
[Reshape and stitching]
Before grinding, the grinding wheel must be adjusted so that it can cut normally by a process called reshaping and sharpening. Reshaping involves grinding the outer circumference of the wheel to give it the correct cylindrical shape and removing any eccentricity in the wheel, while sharpening involves straightening out any irregularities in the abrasive cutting edges and removing any dull or clogged cutting edges to restore the wheel's sharpness.

...If the selection is not correct, problems such as blunting (the cutting edges of the abrasive grains becoming worn down and flattened), clogging (the pores of the grinding wheel being clogged with cutting debris), and over-cutting (excessive grains falling off) can occur. When using a grinding wheel, it is necessary to reshape (the operation of finishing the circumference of the wheel to the correct geometric shape with a suitable tool), and dress or sharpen (the operation of producing a sharp cutting edge on the wheel surface with a suitable tool).
[Application]
According to the type of abrasive, A wheels have a high tensile strength (30kgf/mm2 or more) and are used for rough grinding of tough, relatively sticky work materials, while WA wheels have an extremely high tensile strength (50kgf/mm2 or more) and are used for precision grinding of tough, dense work materials that often generate heat during grinding.
