…He was one of the co-authors, if not the author, of three of the four great works of the Rosicrucians: The Universal Reformation of the World, The Rosicrucian Legends, and The Rosicrucian Creed. The fantastic novel-like strange book The Chemical Marriage (1616) is almost certainly his work. He was the grandson of Jakob Andreae (1528-90), the leader of the Lutheran movement and the editor of the Creed Concordat, which attempted to unify Protestant doctrine. He was born in Herrenberg, Württemberg, and after associating with the radical scholarly circle of Tübingen, he traveled around Europe. …

...It was a dispute between the True Lutherans and the Philippians, both of whom were disciples of Melanchthon, but from the late 1560s, there was a growing movement to summarize the results of these theological disputes and bring about religious and theological unity within the German Lutheran Church. In 1577, the Bergen Confession (later called the Fundamental Declaration) was compiled based on a draft mainly by Jakob Andreae (1528-90) and Martin Chemnitz (1522-86), and a summary of it was attached to the first part, and together they came to be called the Concordat Creed. As an attempt to explain the Augsburg Confession of 1530 in Luther's own way, it is accepted as one of the standards of faith in many Lutheran churches, including Germany.
