A Confucian scholar from the mid-Edo period. Born in Echigo. His given name was Yuu and his pen name was Kouchitsu. He was a pupil of Uno Meika. He worked with the scholar-monk Daiten (Genjo) of Shokoku-ji Temple in Kyoto to organise and publish his master's posthumous writings. After Meika's death, he went to Osaka and founded the poetry society Kontonsha there. He trained many anti-Soraigaku scholars and poets, but he did not like writing, and had his pupils edit works such as Hokkai Bunshu and Kontonsha Shiko. During the same period, there was Emura Hokkai in Kyoto and Irie Hokkai in Edo, and together with Katayama Hokkai, they were known as the Three Hokkai. →Yori Shunsui/Bito Nishu →Related article Kimura Kenkado Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
