...Korean independence activist and thinker. His pen name was Dosan. He was born in South Pyongan Province. He studied at the Salvation School, founded by the American missionary HG Underwood. He participated in the Independence Association movement. In 1902, he traveled to the United States and led the Korean movement in America, forming the Kyoritsu Kyokai (later the Korean National Association). He returned to the United States in 1907 and organized the Shinminkai, and was active in the patriotic enlightenment movement, founding the Daesung School himself. He defected to China in April 1910. He returned to the United States again and became the central chairman of the Korean National Association.
