Open Work

...Cutout embroidery. A type of openwork (a technique for creating see-through parts), it is also called "white thread embroidery" because it is originally embroidered with white thread on white fabric. The outline of the design is sewn onto the base fabric with fine buttonhole stitches, and the part of the base fabric inside the design is cut out to create a see-through or embossed effect.
