Huang Shen

Japanese: 黄慎 - こうしん
Huang Shen
A painter from the Qing dynasty in China. His pen name was Gongmao (懋), and his pen name was Eihyo (江瓢). He was born in Ninghua, Fujian Province, and after making a name for himself he moved to Yangzhou, where he is counted among the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou. He painted landscapes and people with a dynamic brushstroke in the style of the Zhejiang School, and showed a free and unique style of expression, especially in his portraits. He was also skilled in calligraphy, poetry, and prose, and was known as one of the Three Perfections.
