Uda

Japanese: 宇陀 - うだ
Uda

Central-eastern Nara Prefecture. In ancient times, Uda County occupied most of the current Uda City and Uda County, and "Uda" is thought to refer to the Uda Mountains. In the Kojiki, Emperor Jinmu's section, it is written, "He crossed the land and crossed it, and came to Uda, so it is called Uda no Ukachi." In the Man'yoshu, it is written, "If the red soil of Uda in Yamato were to be used as a red clay, would people there say so too?" It is said that within the county, there were hunting grounds of the imperial family, such as Uda Kinno and Hii Maki.
