The French term en-tout-cas means "for all occasions, rain or shine." This is a well-drained reddish-brown topsoil used for athletics tracks and tennis courts. It is made by firing china clay rich in silica. It was first used in France for tennis courts, and quickly became popular after its use in the main stadium (athletics stadium) of the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics.
