Awata Moroe - Awata Moroe
?-? Empress of Emperor Junnin during the Nara period.
She married Fujiwara no Nakamaro's son Mayori, and after her husband's death, when the Emperor was still King Ooi, she remarried. In 758, she ascended to the throne and was promoted to the rank of Junior Fifth Rank. Her name is also pronounced "Morone."

藤原仲麻呂の子真従(まより)にとつぎ,夫の死後天皇が大炊(おおい)王のときに再婚。天平宝字(てんぴょうほうじ)2年(758)即位とともに従五位下となる。名は「もろね」ともよむ。
