Oil crops - Yuryo Sakumotsu
A crop grown for the purpose of extracting fats and oils. In a broad sense, it includes crops such as corn, rice, and cotton that produce fats and oils as a by-product. Drying oils such as perilla, hemp, flax, paulownia, and sunflower are used as raw materials for industrial use, paints, and printing inks, while non-drying oils such as olive, peanut, camellia, and castor are used for cooking, lighting, medicine, and cosmetics, and semi-drying oils such as soybean, sesame, and rapeseed are widely used for cooking.
