…The ancient name was Alesia. There have been various theories about its location since the beginning of the 19th century, and the debate was fierce around 1870, but the most likely location is Alesia-Sainte-Reine in the Côte d'Or department in central-eastern France, where an inscription bearing the name Alisiia was excavated in 1837. It was located on the Celtic Tin Road and was one of the centers of bronze manufacturing.
