…His first work was the Vedartha-saṃgraha, which attempted to clarify the meaning of the Upanishads, and his major work was the Śrī-bhāṣya, the first sectarian commentary on the Brahma-sūtra. In the 10th century, a movement arose among scholars of the Śrīvaishnava sect of Hinduism in South India called Alagiya, who sought to provide a philosophical basis for the popular Narayana worship, which emphasized devotion (bhakti), through Vedanta philosophy. The first to succeed in this endeavor was Ramanuja.
