Ayaigasa (woven hat)
〘Noun〙 A hat made by weaving rush grass in a twill weave and stretching silk on the inside. There is a protruding part in the center where the topknot can be placed, and from the base of the part hang several thin strips of purple or red leather. It was worn by samurai when hunting, traveling, performing yabusame ( horseback archery) , and was also used by dengaku-hoshi. Ayagasa. *Konjaku (around 1120) 25 "Wearing an ayagasa hat, <abbreviated> a yanaghi was carried on one's shoulder."

〘名〙 藺草(いぐさ)を綾の組織にならって編み、裏に絹を張って作った笠。中央に突出部がありそこに髻(もとどり)を入れるようになっていて、その根元のところから、紫や紅の皮を細く裂いた風帯が、数本垂れている。武士が狩り、遠行、流鏑馬(やぶさめ)などの際に着用し、田楽法師なども使用した。あやがさ。※今昔(1120頃か)二五「綾藺笠を著て、〈略〉胡簶(やなぐひ)を負て」
