Japanese: 綾藺笠 - あやいがさ

〘Noun〙 A hat made by weaving rush grass in a twill weave and stretching silk on the inside. There is a protruding part in the center where the topknot can be placed, and from the base of the part hang several thin strips of purple or red leather. It was worn by samurai when hunting, traveling, performing yabusame ( horseback archery) , and was also used by dengaku-hoshi.
