After publishing several sequels, he published “The Rise and Fall of American Civilization” in 1927. This book describes the course of American history as a conflict between conservatives and progressives, and has been widely used as a textbook and has become a must-read for students of American history. Beard also wrote many books on social science research, political science, and urban administration, but in 1922 he was invited to Japan by Tokyo Mayor Goto Shinpei, where he wrote “A Treatise on the Municipal Government of Tokyo” (1923), and returned to Japan after the Great Kanto Earthquake, and he has many acquaintances in Japan. …
