Meanwhile, Masao Minato proposed the Abe orogeny from the Carboniferous to the early Permian in the Kitakami Mountains in the southern part of northeastern Japan (1960). As the two orogenies overlap in age, the Abe orogeny is sometimes included in the broader Honshu orogeny, and is sometimes used as a general term for the movements of the Honshu geosyncline (Minato, Ushikui, Mitsuo Funahashi, et al., 1965). *Some of the terminology that refers to the "Abe tribe orogeny" is listed below.
