Hiroyoshi Iwanaga

Owner of a news agency. Born in Tokyo. Older brother of writer Nagayo Yoshiro. Graduated from Kyoto Imperial University in 1909 (Meiji 42). Worked for the South Manchuria Railway for a time, but after publishing "Iwanaga Tsushin" in 1920 (Taisho 9), he became interested in the communications industry, and joined Kokusai Tsushin-sha in 1921 to help manage the company. Hoping to make Japan's news agencies independent, he dissolved Kokusai Tsushin-sha in 1926 and established the Japan Newspaper Association. After that, he signed equal contracts with the world's leading news agencies and worked hard to establish communications autonomy. In 1936 (Showa 11), he created the first nationally-represented news agency, Domei Tsushin-sha.

ニュース通信社の経営者。東京生まれ。作家長与善郎(ながよよしろう)の兄。1909年（明治42）京都帝国大学卒業。一時満鉄に勤めるが、1920年（大正9）『岩永通信』を発刊以来通信業に関心をもち、1921年国際通信社に入社、経営を助ける。日本の通信社の独立を念願し、1926年国際通信社を解散して日本新聞聯合(れんごう)社を設立した。以後、世界の有力通信社と対等契約を結び、通信自主権の確立に尽力した。1936年（昭和11）に初の国家代表通信社、同盟通信社をつくりあげた。
