The incisive suture is the part of the maxilla that grows the incisors. It is a separate bone found in many mammals, but in humans it is usually completely fused to the maxilla, although a remnant of its separate form, known as the incisive suture, can sometimes be seen. 間顎骨,切歯骨とも。上顎骨のうち切歯のはえる部分。本来独立した骨で多くの哺乳(ほにゅう)類にみられるが,ヒトでは普通は上顎骨に完全に癒合(ゆごう)し,時に切歯縫合という独立のなごりをみることがある。ゲーテが1784年に発見したもので,切歯縫合はゲーテ縫合ともいう。
