Autumn Melody

Japanese: 秋の調 - あきのしらべ

A song accompanied by koto and shakuhachi. Composed by Miyagi Michio in 1918. Lyrics by Kobayashi Aio. A serenade-style song about the loneliness of autumn and the longing for a young girl. The structure is prelude-verse-interlude-verse. The prelude expresses fallen leaves, and the interlude the sounds of insects. The verse in the two verses has almost the same melody. While based on Japanese musical scales, it is sung sweetly with a new feel. It skillfully incorporates a fusion of various elements of Japanese and Western music, such as tegotomono form and three-part form, kakeai and canon techniques, Japanese melodies and Western rhythms, and is said to be a groundbreaking new work, which became Miyagi's breakthrough work.

箏，尺八伴奏の歌曲。1918年宮城道雄作曲。小林愛雄作詞。秋の寂しさと乙女へのあこがれをセレナード風に歌う。前奏―歌―間奏―歌の構成。前奏は落葉を，間奏は虫の音を表現。2節の歌はほぼ同じ旋律。日本音階によりつつも新感覚で甘美に歌う。手事（てごと）物形式と3部分形式，掛合とカノン技法，日本的旋律と洋楽的リズム感等々，邦楽と洋楽の諸要素の融合を巧みに取り入れて，画期的な新作といわれ，宮城の出世作となった。
