[raw]? [Died] Jinheung 7 (425) Founder of the Da Xia Dynasty of the Five Barbarians and Sixteen Kingdoms in China. Descendant of the Southern Xiongnu Chanyu (Zhenyu). His courtesy name was Qu Ba. Initially under the protection of the Later Qin Dynasty, he rebelled against the Later Qin Dynasty and declared independence (407), becoming the Heavenly King Da Chanyu and calling his state Da Xia. Later he changed his surname to Helian. In the 5th year of the Fengxiang era (417), Liu Yu of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (later Emperor Wu of the Song Dynasty) destroyed the Later Qin Dynasty, but Bobo attacked the garrison troops, seized Chang'an, and re-established himself as emperor (418).
