…He selected Enkyokushu, Enkyokusho, Shinkyokusho, Kyuhyakushu, and Shukashu from the 16 volumes of the anthology of early poems, and wrote lyrics for 81 of the 120 songs in the above volumes, including Spring, and composed 111 songs, including Autumn. He was well versed in Buddhist scriptures, Chinese classics, and national classics, and as the Onin Ryakuki states, "The secret score of Eikyoku has been passed down for seven generations since the original Myo-ku. A man called Myo-ku created the secret score of Eikyoku thanks to the kindness of the gongen of Kumano," he appears to have been a cultured man with a wide range of vocal music, including the aristocrats' Saibara, Roei, and Imayo, as well as the monks' Shomiyo and Koshiki. …
