Separation of Akakios - The division of Akakios

…In 484, the Church of Rome excommunicated Akacius, and the communion between the Church of Rome and the Byzantine Church was severed until 519. This is called the Akacius Schism. [Tatsuya Moriyasu]…

From [Christianity]

...The Eastern Roman Emperors tried to stop the Monophysites from seceding by repeatedly suppressing and compromising. The compromises, which ignored the Chalcedonian Creed, caused confusion within the Byzantine Church and provoked strong opposition from the Roman Church (the Henoticon of 482 and the Akacian Schism of 484). In particular, during the reign of Justinian I, the emperors' church policies were constantly changing, and Nestorian theology, which had already been resolved in the Three Chapters Problem, was once again under attack.

From Zeno

…The Persian army invaded the eastern border, and the Huns moved south to Thrace, but in 488, they shifted the target of attack of Theodoric, the Gothic king of the Balkans, to Italy, and escaped the storm of ethnic migration. In 482, probably at the suggestion of Acacius, they issued the Henotikon (Edict of Unity), which aimed to compromise with Diphysites, in order to prevent political defection by Monophysites, who were considered religious heretics. However, it was also opposed by the Pope, and the Roman and Byzantine churches broke off relations in a state known as the Acacian Schism (484-519). [Wada Hiroshi]. …
