Adone - Adone

Japanese: 《アドーネ》 - あどーね
Adone - Adone

…Petrarch had already been awarded the title of poet laureate in Rome for his Latin epic poem Africa (begun around 1338), and Boccaccio had written his epic poem Theceida (1340-41) modelled on Virgil and Statius, but the Renaissance began with L. Pulci's Morgante (1483). This epic was a kind of parody of epic poetry, and the mixture of classical and medieval chivalric tales that began in this way continued through MM Boiardo's Orlando in Love, L. Ariosto's Orlando Mador (definitive edition 1532), the greatest epic of the Renaissance, T. Tasso's Jerusalem Liberated (1565-75), the greatest epic of the Baroque, and finally G. Marino's Adone (1590-1616), a work with an extremely musical style. At this point, it is important to recall that the authors of the epic poems that formed the backbone of Italian literature from the 15th to the 17th centuries were court poets of various despotic monarchs, such as those in Florence and Ferrara.
