Atayar - Atayargo

... is a general term for the languages ​​of the indigenous peoples living in Taiwan, also known as the Takasago languages. All of them belong to the Austronesian language family (hereafter abbreviated as "Austronesian languages"). However, scholars differ on the position of the Austronesian languages ​​within the Austronesian language family. Some scholars divide the Austronesian languages ​​into two branches: the Western branch (Indonesian) and the Oceanian branch, with the Austronesian languages ​​belonging to the former. Others divide the Austronesian languages ​​into two branches: the Taiwanese branch (Alpine languages) and the rest. Others divide the Austronesian languages ​​into three branches: the Taiwanese branch, the Western branch, and the Oceanian branch. Others divide the Austronesian languages ​​into four branches: the Atayal branch, the Tsou branch, the Paiwan branch (all three branches are Alpine languages), and the Malayo-Polynesian branch. There is much debate about the subdivision of the Gao Mountain languages, but there is no disagreement on three points: (1) Atayal and Sedeq are closely related and form the Atayalic group, (2) Tsou, Kanakanabu, and Saaroa are closely related and form the Tsouic group, and (3) Yami, a language of Orchid Island, belongs to the Batanic group of the Philippines rather than to the languages ​​of Taiwan.
