...Then, in 1493, the Bundschuh revolt was planned in Schlettstadt, Alsace. In 1502, Joss Fritz, a serf from Untergrombach in the diocese of Speyer, organized the Bundschuh revolt, proposing a radical platform for the abolition of all ruling power, the abolition of tribute and rent, and the liberation of village commons. Fritz planned further revolts in Lehen near Freiburg in 1513 and in various places along the upper Rhine in 1517, but all the movements were suppressed before they could begin and he disappeared.
