In Hemiptera, it is located on the ventral side of the head and is called the head ventral gland (or simply the ventral gland). In stick insects, it is called the pericardial gland because it is distributed around the artery. In primitive Dipterans, it is called the peritracheal gland, and in higher Dipterans, it is called the corpus cardiaca and corpus allatum to form a ring gland.
