...These names are permitted only for products that meet certain standards in certain producing regions, and other French brandies are called French brandy. Outside of France, well-known brands in Japan include Asbach from Germany, Stock from Italy, Fundador from Spain, and Metaxa from Greece. Other types include pomace brandy, which is made by distilling the pomace left over after the juice for grape wine has been extracted, raisin brandy, which is made by distilling the liquor made from dried grapes, etc.
