This refers to a stone halberd made in the Yayoi period in imitation of a bronze halberd (a weapon made of bronze). They are found in high concentrations in the Kitakyushu region, and scattered throughout the Kansai and Kanto regions. Kyushu stone halberds have a diamond-shaped cross section on the halberd (the blade). Some stone halberds from Kansai and east have two grooves on the halberd. The morphological differences between the two indicate that they were created independently. In Kyushu, production of stone halberds began immediately after bronze halberds were imported at the end of the Early Yayoi period. In Kansai and east, production began after the latter half of the Middle Yayoi period.
