Born on March 12, 1894. Became a professor at his alma mater, Tokyo Imperial University, in 1932. Served as president of the Horticultural Society and a member of the Science Council of Japan. Died on November 6, 1976, at age 82. Born in Gifu Prefecture. His works include "General Theory of Fruit Cultivation" and "Keiribu."
