…A mountain range in the western part of Yamagata Prefecture, straddling the border with Niigata Prefecture, also known as the Asahi Mountain Range. In addition to Mt. Asahi (1,870m), Mt. Ito (1,771m), Mt. Kanko (1,695m), Mt. Koasahi, Mt. Hiraiwa, Mt. Torihara, and Mt. Iwaigame, all with elevations of 1,400 to 1,600m, form a main ridge running roughly north-south and a branch ridge that crosses it obliquely, constituting the Asahi Mountains, which as a whole stretch about 30km north-south and 20km east-west. …
