Nagaaki Asano

He was a feudal lord in the early Edo period and the first lord of the Asano clan in the Hiroshima domain of Aki Province (Hiroshima Prefecture). As the second son of Asano Nagamasa, his aunt Yasuko (Kita no Mandokoro) was Toyotomi Hideyoshi's legal wife, and he became Hideyoshi's attendant at an early stage. After Hideyoshi's death, he followed Tokugawa Ieyasu and was ordered to protect Yasuko in Kyoto, and was given over 20,000 koku in Ashimori, Bitchu Province (Ashimori, Okayama City). In 1613, his elder brother Yukinaga died without an heir, so he moved to Wakayama Castle and was given over 370,000 koku in Kii Province. He achieved great success in the Winter and Summer Sieges of Osaka, and during this time he also suppressed uprisings in Kumano, Shingu, and other areas within the country that had connections with Osaka Castle. In 1616, he married Ieyasu's third daughter, Furihime, and in 1617, he moved to Hiroshima Castle with over 420,000 koku in Aki and Bingo, following Fukushima Masanori, who was demoted in 1616. Here too, he respected the local customs, established various systems, and established the domain government.

江戸時代初期の大名,安芸国(広島県)広島藩浅野家初代藩主。浅野長政の次男,叔母寧子(北政所)が豊臣秀吉の正妻であった縁で早くから秀吉の近侍となる。秀吉没後は徳川家康に従い,京にいた寧子の守護を命じられ,備中国蘆森(岡山市足守)で2万余石を与えられる。慶長18(1613)年兄幸長が嗣子なく没したので,和歌山城に入り,紀伊国37万余石を領した。大坂冬・夏の陣では大功を立てる一方,この間大坂城と通じた国内の熊野,新宮などの一揆を平定している。元和2(1616)年家康の3女振姫を妻に迎え,同5年改易となった福島正則の跡,安芸,備後に42万余石を領して広島城に移った。ここでも地域の慣行を重んじて諸制度を整え,藩政を確立した。<参考文献>三井大作『浅野長晟公略伝』
