A village in Chichibu County located in the central part of Saitama Prefecture, on the western edge of the Hiki Hills. The Tsuki River, which originates in the southern end, flows down from the central to eastern part of the area, and most of the area is covered by forests. The Chichibu Plateau Ranch spreads from Nihongi Pass on the western edge to Ogiriyama, where dairy farming is also carried out. The Sadamine Pass on the southwestern edge is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, and in the eastern part, there are Kasayama, a beautiful conical mountain, and Dodairayama, which has an observatory on its peak and is the site of the Daidarabochi legend, and is visited by many climbers throughout the year. Tsuki River is also known for its clear waters, and together with Ogawa Town to the east, it has long been famous for producing washi paper and Hosokawa paper, a traditional craft. In November 2014, it was decided to register the paper as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage as "Washi: Japanese Handmade Papermaking Techniques." 埼玉県中央部，比企丘陵の西端に位置する秩父郡の村。南端を源流とする槻川が中部から東部へと流下しており，山林の面積が大半を占める。西端の二本木峠から大霧山にかけて秩父高原牧場が広がり，酪農も行われる。南西端の定峰峠は桜の名所として知られ，東部には円錐形の山体が美しい笠山や，頂上に天文台を有しだいだらぼっち伝説も残る堂平山があり，四季を通じて登山者が多く訪れる。また槻川は清流でも知られ，東隣の小川町とともに古くから伝統工芸品として和紙・細川紙を産することでも有名で，2014年11月に〈和紙：日本の手漉和紙技術〉としてユネスコ無形文化遺産への登録が決定したことで注目が集まっている。37.06km²。3348人（2010）。
