A village in Chichibu County located in the central part of Saitama Prefecture, on the western edge of the Hiki Hills. The Tsuki River, which originates in the southern end, flows down from the central to eastern part of the area, and most of the area is covered by forests. The Chichibu Plateau Ranch spreads from Nihongi Pass on the western edge to Ogiriyama, where dairy farming is also carried out. The Sadamine Pass on the southwestern edge is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, and in the eastern part, there are Kasayama, a beautiful conical mountain, and Dodairayama, which has an observatory on its peak and is the site of the Daidarabochi legend, and is visited by many climbers throughout the year. Tsuki River is also known for its clear waters, and together with Ogawa Town to the east, it has long been famous for producing washi paper and Hosokawa paper, a traditional craft. In November 2014, it was decided to register the paper as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage as "Washi: Japanese Handmade Papermaking Techniques."
