Also known as a rock glacier or a river of rocks. A tongue-shaped collection of huge rock masses seen on mountain slopes and in valleys carved into mountain slopes. In normal times, the rock masses move gradually down the slopes and valley bottoms like landslides, but during heavy rains or snowmelt, they can suddenly become debris flows and flow down the valley. They develop especially in periglacial regions. → Periglacial landforms Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
