Brick flow - Gankairyu

Also known as a rock glacier or a river of rocks. A tongue-shaped collection of huge rock masses seen on mountain slopes and in valleys carved into mountain slopes. In normal times, the rock masses move gradually down the slopes and valley bottoms like landslides, but during heavy rains or snowmelt, they can suddenly become debris flows and flow down the valley. 岩氷河，岩の川とも。山腹や山腹を刻む谷内にみられる舌状をした巨大な岩塊の集り。平時は岩塊が地すべり状に徐々に斜面，谷底を匍行(ほこう)するが，豪雨時，雪どけ時などには急激に土石流となって流下することもある。特に周氷河地域で発達する。→周氷河地形
