A computer programming language. It was developed in Europe in the late 1950s. It is excellent for describing algorithms and is suitable for scientific and technical calculations. Although it is rarely used today, it is known for having had a strong influence on the development of later programming languages such as C and Pascal. ◇From "algorithmic language".
