…(1) First Generation (1758-1824, 8th year of Horeki-7th year of Bunsei-7) His first name was Takeda Jinzaburo, and he was from the Takeda Children's Theater in Osaka. He called himself Asai Kozaemon, but in 1794 (6th year of Kansei-7) he became a disciple of the first generation Asao Tamejuro (the head of the Asao family), who was a real villain, and took the surname Asao. Following the example of his master Tamejuro, he specialized in playing supporting villain roles, and in addition to playing real villain roles, he also played hando and oyaji roles. …
